The first Honor Roll dedication was held in the summer of 1945 honoring the World War II veterans.  It was really a big event. The long war was over and Vets were beginning to come home. Back then everybody in Eolia knew everybody in Eolia so most of the Vets were either a family member or a personal friend.

The structure was made of concrete with strips of wood inlaid. The names were painted on narrow strips of wood that were attached to the inlaid wood. It was not very durable, not like the metal or the engraved marble memorials of today. (courtesy of Jack Troutner).

In March 2023, Grow with Eolia approached the Eolia Board of Trustees to request an area of the park to construct a new Veteran's Memorial.  On May 27, 2023, the first signs were hung during a special dedication ceremony.  Several dedications have followed and as of August 2026 there are 195 names proudly displayed.

Signs may be purchased by contacting Lynn Reuther at 636-262-9000.  Must be current or former Eolia resident or immediate surrounding communities.

Dedication ceremonies are held in May and the Saturday before Veteran's Day.

We owe our freedom and way of life to the brave men and women who served in our armed forces. Today and every day, we offer our deepest gratitude to all Veterans.  To the men and women of Eolia, thank you for your service.
